Hi, thanks for the response. But it didn't work. 1) Yes, I am using the AC cord hat came with my laptop. 2) As i said, the problem is with the battery. The computer does torn on without the battery if it is plugged in. In addition i followed the steps listed here to remove the battery. I removed the battery, pressed and hold the power button for 1 minute, inserted the battery back in but it still didn't work. I have also tried uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery under Device Managers but it also didn't work.
